Fortuna Library Offers Free Genealogy Workshops
Look for exciting programming this month at the Fortuna Library. Chris Cooper and his staff are working hard to expand the programming offered to the public.
There will be a free Ancestry.com genealogy workshop for all ages August 13th at 9:30 a.m. August 15th at 6:30 p.m. These classes will have the same content, so those who are interested will only need to sign-up for one date. The instructor for this course is Katherine Mercer, and she will be consulting participants regarding class content and focus. Katherine has been educating patrons at the Eureka Main Library since January. The Library Edition of Ancestry.com has a lot to offer for those who are interested in creating a family tree, perusing documents and records, and learning more about their family’s roots. Katherine sees family history as an important factor in connecting and identifying with one’s past. The sponsors for this workshop are the Friends of the Fortuna Library and the Rose Perenin Foundation.
Space will be limited so those who are interested are encouraged to pre-register by coming into the Fortuna Library, calling at (707) 725-6731, or sending an email to ccooper@co.humboldt.ca.us.
